On the 15th day of the 8th month in the lunar calendar, the moon is at its fullest and brightest of the year. This marks a special time for family reunions—gathering under the glowing moon, sharing mooncakes and seasonal fruits, and most importantly, cherishing moments together.

Like all holidays, it brings joy and warmth, but it may also stir memories—both happy and bitter or sweet—especially of loved ones who are no longer with us.

One of the most famous Chinese poems by Su Shi ends with the line: “但愿人长久，千里共婵娟。” “May we live long and share the beauty of the moon together, even if we are a thousand miles apart.”
In ancient times, a thousand miles felt unimaginably distant. Today, with international travel, people can be even farther apart—when the moon rises here, the sun may be rising elsewhere. Yet, no matter the distance, we all live under the same sky. The moon, the sun, and the bonds between friends and family continue to connect us.

Cherish each moment. Embrace your past experiences with acceptance and focus your energy on the present—for your own wellbeing and for the wellbeing of those around you.
